A book to mark the event!

A book is in preparation with Gallimard. The book will trace 150 years of the BIPM’s history in pictures; it will include a special notebook with unpublished photos by the famous photographer Robert Doisneau at the BIPM, which will be mirrored by photos taken by Raphaël Dallaporta.

Author of the foreword: Prof. Ken Alder, Professor of History, Milton H. Wilson Professor in the Humanities at Northwestern University. Ph.D., Harvard, 1991 and author of “The Measure of All Things:  The Seven-Year Odyssey and Hidden Error that Transformed the World” translated in seven languages.

A new commemorative stamp to celebrate the 150 anniversary

A commemorative stamp will be produced in France by La Poste to celebrate the signing of the Metre Convention and the establishement of the BIPM.
50 years ago, stamps in many countries were issued to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the BIPM.

A special limited edition of a vase

A special limited edition of a vase will be designed by the the Manufacture de Sèvres which produced and designed a vase for the delegates of the International Metre Commission in 1872.

A special medal

A special medal will be designed to mark the event in continuity with the medals casted for the milestones of the history of the Metric system and the BIPM.
